BEFORE YOU REPORT

Check if the issue is already fixed

1. Update the extension

The latest version may already include a fix:

  • Open chrome://extensions chrome://extensions

  • Find “SmartContentGuard”

  • Click “Update” if available

2. Try basic troubleshooting

  • Restart the browser

  • Disable and re-enable the extension

  • Clear browser cache

  • Test in an Incognito window


TYPES OF ISSUES

🐛 Bugs and errors

Examples:

  • Extension does not load

  • Visual highlighting does not work

  • Settings are not saved

  • Console shows JavaScript errors

Priority: High


⚠️ Unexpected behavior

Examples:

  • Incorrect highlighting of information

  • Slow performance on specific pages

  • UI is not responsive

  • Conflict with other extensions

Priority: Medium


💡 Feature requests

Examples:

Priority: Low (but very welcome!)

BEST PRACTICES WHEN REPORTING

✅ Do

  • Be specific and objective

  • Provide all requested information

  • Include screenshots whenever possible

  • Test under different conditions

  • Check if it was already reported

❌ Avoid

  • Reporting multiple issues in a single email

  • Using offensive or aggressive language

  • Omitting important technical details

  • Reporting feature requests as bugs

  • Sending sensitive information without encryption

  • Technical system information

  • Error logs (no personal data)

  • Screenshots provided voluntarily

  • Contact email (only to reply)

Data we do NOT collect

  • Full browsing history

  • Personal or sensitive data

  • Information from other sites/extensions

  • Any data unrelated to the issue

Will I get a response to every report?

Yes. Every report is answered, even if only to confirm we cannot implement the suggestion.

How long does it take to fix a bug?

It depends on complexity. Critical bugs have the highest priority (48–72h). Improvements may take weeks or months.

Can I report anonymously?

Yes, but no status updates can be sent

Will my report be public?

No. We maintain complete confidentiality unless you authorize us to share it.
